Hello there, Reader! In last week’s newsletter, I shared The One Leafy Green I Always Have on Hand! If you missed it, you can catch up HERE. This week I’m celebrating one of my favorite warm, fragrant flavors — anise. If you grew up with Italian baking in your kitchen, you know how this simple seed can transform ordinary dough into something deeply nostalgic. Anise appears in cookies, biscotti, taralli, and even pizzelle — perfect with coffee, tea, or just on their own. Whether you’re an anise lover already or curious to explore this classic flavor, here are some of my favorite anise-forward recipes from the site: Orange BiscottiCrisp, lightly sweet biscotti with orange zest and a hint of anise—perfect for dunking. Italian Anise TaralliCrunchy, lightly sweet, and completely addictive. Soft Italian Anise Dunking CookiesSoft on the inside, lightly sweet, and made for caffè latte. Anisette Sponge CookiesOld-fashioned, spongy cookies with a delicate anise flavor. Authentic Italian Anise BiscottiClassic, crunchy biscotti with just the right balance of sweetness and spice. Pizzelle della NonnaThin, crisp pizzelle flavored with anise—simple, nostalgic, and perfect with coffee. READER REVIEW OF THE WEEK!"Greetings from Bullhead City, Az. Never have I ever thought of making biscotti, but I had some dried cherries and it’s cold outside (62 degrees is cold in Arizona) so I threw caution to the wind and am I glad I did These are absolutely addictive and so much better than store bought. I admit I did cheat a little and ate a slice before the final bake. Oooooooooh this bite was a soft chew and delicious. Will definetly make these again Maybe chocolate chip next time."
